Exciting Autumn and Winter Adventures with Wild East Devon

The Wild East Devon team has been busy working on an exciting schedule of Autumn and Winter events to inspire people of all ages to get outside and enjoy the natural world all year round. Whether you’re an avid bird watcher, or just looking for a fun family outing, there is something for everyone in this season’s schedule.

Autumn fun: October half-term activities

Events taking place over the upcoming October half term include a self-guided Autumn Trail at Seaton Wetlands. From October 25 through to November 4, 10am to 4pm daily, use the trail map to help Kay the jay, and Cyril the squirrel find their acorns and hazelnuts hidden around the reserve. Pick up your trail map from the Discovery Hut and enjoy exploring the Seaton Wetlands nature reserve. Once you’ve completed the trail, return to the hut to claim your nature themed prize.

For those interested in finding out more about the birds found at Seaton Wetlands the team have announced a series of ‘Guide in the Hide for Kids’ events, taking place on October 29, November 9 and November 23 from 10am to 12noon.  Join an experienced birdwatcher in this island hide and see what you can spot.

Festive fun: Christmas events

Later in the season, the fun doesn’t stop! Get in the festive spirit with our Guided Christmas Walks at Seaton Wetlands – on November 30, December 7 and December 14. Learn about the migratory birds which visit the site at winter, and after your walk, warm up with a mince pie and mulled-punch at the Discovery Hut.

For those feeling crafty, the team is hosting Wreath Making Workshops on December 6, where you’ll have a chance to create your own wreath using all-natural material. For those who’d like to learn a new skill, there are two Spoon Carving Workshops planned for December 7 and January 11. During this hands-on workshop you’ll learn to make your very own spoon – perfect for packed lunches, picnics or pickles! Discover more and book your place online.
