Become a Visitor Warden Volunteer at Seaton Wetlands
Do you love wildlife and enjoy meeting new people?
Join the East Devon District Council Countryside team and help create a great experience for visitors at our flagship nature reserve, Seaton Wetlands.
As a Visitor Warden Volunteer, you’ll be at the heart of the reserve, providing visitors with information, tips, and a warm welcome. Your role is crucial in ensuring everyone has a memorable time while exploring the wetlands.
What You'll Do:
- Greet visitors and make them feel welcome
- Offer helpful directions around the site and suggest the best spots for wildlife viewing
- Share interesting facts and tips about the local wildlife, plants, and birds
- Hand out flyers and seasonal trails
- Report any site issues to the Countryside Rangers
What We’re Looking For:
- A passion for wildlife and/or birds (no expert knowledge required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn)
- Friendly, approachable, and confident in engaging with the public
- An interest in being outdoors and supporting conservation efforts
Why Volunteer with Us?
- Flexible Shifts: Wardens visit the site 11am to 1pm on days that vary throughout the year, so you can volunteer in a way that fits your schedule.
- Team Support: You’ll volunteer in pairs whenever possible, ensuring a friendly and supportive environment. Volunteers have the chance to get together at our popular volunteer socials.
- Training Provided: Volunteers are provided with an induction and are offered training throughout the year. A fleece, polo shirt and name badge are also provided.
- Make a Difference: Help inspire others to connect with nature and protect our precious wildlife.
How to Get Involved:
If you’re ready to join us, email wild@eastdevon.gov.uk and one of the team will get in touch with you to discuss how you can get started.
