East Devon District Council's Countryside Team is celebrating a hugely successful spring and summer season, with almost every event at Seaton Wetlands selling out well in advance.

The achievement reflects the growing popularity of the award-winning nature reserve, which continues to attract record numbers of visitors while delivering significant benefits for wildlife, local communities and the wider economy. Since opening in 2010, Seaton Wetlands has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of East Devon's most valued visitor destinations and a nationally recognised example of habitat restoration and nature conservation.

The reserve's 2026 events programme has proven particularly popular, offering a diverse range of activities designed to connect people with nature. The programme has attracted participants of all ages and interests, offering everything from canoe safaris to guided bat walks and beginner-friendly willow weaving workshops. Family activities have also proved particularly popular, encouraging children to explore the outdoors, learn new skills and get creative in nature.

The Countryside Team develops and delivers a year-round programme of events, carefully balancing new experiences with established favourites to meet growing demand and provide opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with the natural environment.

Councillor Richard Jefferies, Portfolio Holder for Environment – Nature & Climate, said: "We are delighted to see such an enthusiastic response to our events programme. As one of East Devon's premier wildlife destinations, Seaton Wetlands plays a crucial role in protecting habitats and supporting biodiversity. At the same time, it contributes significantly to the area's visitor economy, attracting thousands of people each year who support local businesses and tourism services.”
