Become an East Devon Conservation Volunteer
If you’re looking to make a difference for nature, and have availability on a Thursday this is the role for you.
Our East Devon Conservation Volunteers are the champions of practical work across the district. Under the guidance of our Rangers, they work across a variety of habitats, working across most of our nature reserves, except Seaton Wetlands, developing new practical skills and an understanding of habitat management techniques.
What you’ll do:
With an emphasis on practical work, a typical day might include gorse clearance on a heathland site, path cutting in an ancient woodland, or infrastructure maintenance on an urban Community Nature Reserve.
What We’re Looking For:
- No previous experience is necessary
- Volunteers should have an interest in supporting conservation efforts
- A good level of general fitness
- An interest in being outdoors in all weathers
Why Volunteer with Us?
- Flexible Shifts: Join us every Thursday from 10am to 3pm - pick the sessions that fit your schedule.
- Team Support: You’ll volunteer as part of a group under the guidance of the Countryside Ranger. Volunteers have the chance to get together at our popular volunteer socials.
- Training Provided: Volunteers are provided with an induction and are offered training throughout the year. A fleece, polo shirt, and all necessary PPE is provided.
- Make a Difference: Play a vital role in protecting East Devon’s landscapes.
How to Get Involved:
If you’re ready to join us, email wild@eastdevon.gov.uk and one of the team will get in touch with you to discuss how you can get started.
Help us to protect East Devon's Nature Reserves for both people and wildlife.
