Seaton Wetlands has once again proven to be the perfect place for children to connect with nature, with this year’s Summer Holiday Club selling out in record time.

Run by East Devon District Council’s Countryside team and led by Educational Ranger Penny, the week-long club, held during the first week of August, offers children aged 7–11 the chance to swap screens for streams, dens, and campfires.

The programme is packed with hands-on activities: stream dipping, minibeast hunts, den building, wildlife trails, themed games, nature crafts, campfire cooking, and even a little downtime swinging in a hammock. Families can book single days or the whole week at a discounted rate, though early booking is a must, given the soaring demand.

Councillor Richard Jefferies, Portfolio Holder for Environment – Nature & Climate, said: “Seaton Wetlands is more than just a nature reserve, it is an invaluable space where the East Devon Countryside team can inspire and educate the next generation about the importance of nature and wildlife. These engaging activities foster a deep appreciation for our local environment”

Countryside Manager, James Chubb said: “We are delighted by the continued success of our events, especially the Summer Holiday Club, which grows in popularity each year. This success is a true testament to the dedication and hard work of Penny and the entire Countryside team”.

Educational Ranger, Penny added: “I’m thrilled by the impact the Holiday Club has on the children who attend. We welcome familiar faces each year as well as new ones, and witnessing their enthusiasm and enjoyment makes all the planning worthwhile”

And the fun doesn’t stop there! Seaton Wetlands has a full line-up of family-friendly activities throughout August, from Summer Crafts to Fun in the Stream, which also tend to sell out fast.
